I graduated summa cum laude from Texas State University–San Marcos with my bachelor’s degree in English, an emphasis on creative writing. I’ve since moved back to my hometown of Austin, Texas, and am currently working on special projects and communications for Wayside Schools Charter District. I also spent the 2013-2014 school year teaching English to 8th-10th grade students when the district’s current English teacher had to leave mid-semester. Before that, I worked as an in-house editor at a local publishing company after spending a year and a half as a private educator.
My first novel, The Fraud, which I began writing in 2005, was published last year—yes, the editing process was laborious and frightening for me. I imagine it’s that way for most authors, and offering as much assistance as I can, not just to the manuscript but to the author’s self-confidence, as well, is paramount to me when I edit the works of others.
